Thanks for sitting down with me Marina!

Question:  What inspired you or led you to your current career?
Answer: “My background in studying the arts during my undergraduate studies in Sarasota Florida at New College gave me a great foundation for art appreciation. Internships at FIT in New York City enabled me to further my knowledge in fashion and textile design. Mix these two together with a masters in film and photography from the University of East London and you get ARTpool Gallery.”

Q:  What is your favorite restaurant in DTSP, and what do you love there?
A: “Lemongrass – Curry with tofu.”

Q: How long have you lived or worked in DTSP?
A: “Since 1984 the year of my birth!”

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in DTSP?  Who would you like to see nominated as a Face of DTSP?
A: There are so many incredible, interesting and innovative people in our city. That’s what fascinates me and keeps our city growing and evolving in such a beautiful way. I don’t have any one person, there are so many people who inspire me daily.  I am fascinated with the history of Saint Petersburg and love researching the architects of old buildings in our city, having a wonderful friendship with the mailman and folks who keep our city going, meeting the next generation of talent and featuring them at our shows. Saint Pete is so multifaceted and a true creative melting pot which makes it such a fun city to reside and grow a business in.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be?  And why?
A: “We are traveling and backpacking in Europe this summer. Travel is important, it inspires me, gives me so much cultural appreciation, enables one to bring ideas back from different ways of life and gives me perspective on my own way of existence. I think it is necessary, fun and important to open ones mind and truly helps me re-center for when we reopen in the fall.”

Q: What is your favorite movie OR what is the first movie you remember seeing in a theater?
A: “I’m a rom com nut but also totally down for a John Hughes movie any night of the week. Love 80’s classics and 90’s movies that I grew up watching like Home Alone, When Harry Met Sally and BIG.”

Q: What advice would you give a crowd of people?
A: “Recycle and stop living in a one serve lifestyle. Buy quality over quantity and start taking care of Mother Earth seriously. We get one, no repeats. Wonder why we are getting cancer? We are polluting and self harming our environment which is then polluting our own bodies and you know the rest to the story. Taking care of the environment is the first step and the most import one if we as humans want a long and healthy life as well. We are all in the together. Wake up and take responsibility.”

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
A: “Competing at AKC agility nationals or another big league agility competition with our miniature schnauzer Franklin.”
